Honors Geometry is designed to challenge top math students by requiring more challenging assignments and modifying instruction so that it is more complex or more in-depth. Students will be encouraged to think “out of the box” and to explore geometry through lecture, discussion, and projects.  


Course Topics:  

In the first quarter, we will study the first 6 chapters, followed by the remaining 6 chapters in the second quarter.  This pacing may be modified to maximize student learning.

Chapter 1: Essentials of Geometry

Chapter 7: Right Triangles and Trigonometry

Chapter 2: Reasoning and Proof

Chapter 8: Quadrilaterals

Chapter 3: Parallel and Perpendicular Lines

Chapter 9: Transformations (Translations, Rotations, Reflections, Dilations)

Chapter 4: Congruent Triangles

Chapter 10: Properties of Circles

Chapter 5: Relationships Within Triangles

Chapter 11: Measuring Length and Area

Chapter 6: Similarity (as well as simplifying radical expressions)

Chapter 12: Surface Area and Volume of Solids
