The Alibis
March 3 -5, 2023 in the KMHS Minnesota WiFi Performing Arts Center

We challenged eight playwrights to find the comedy in crime in this rogue’s gallery of ten-minute plays wrapped in a classic “whodunnit” tale, with hilarious results!

When eccentric billionaire J. Leslie Arlington is murdered, a clueless detective finds the suspects are all reluctant to admit their alibi -- because they were all committing other ridiculous crimes at the time.  You never know what’s coming next when your suspects include disgruntled chefs, teen detectives, vengeful divas, environmental justice crusaders, and a grandpa with a sweet tooth, but one thing’s for certain: every albi is completely absurd.

This hilarious production is sure to tickle your funny bone -- don’t miss it!

Directed by Elizabeth Harwood, with assistance from Cody Rysavy, the show features a cast and crew of 75 middle school kids. Showtimes are Friday, March 3 and Saturday, March 4, at 7:00 pm, and Sunday March 5 at 2:00 pm in the Minnesota WiFi Performing Arts Center at Kasson-Mantorville High School.  Tickets are $10 for students and seniors and $12 for adults, and are available at https://www.kmdramaboosterclub.org/tickets

Up Next:

Our spring high school play is The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon by Don Zoldis.  Step back into the “good old days” of the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, where most stories do not end well, the princess does not always become the bride, and deals are made with certain unsavory characters in the name of true love, fame, and fortune! The fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm are turned on their heads in this fast-paced, rollicking ride as two narrators and a multitude of actors attempt to combine all 209 stories into one show. Ranging from classics like Snow WhiteCinderella, and Hansel and Gretel to more bizarre, obscure stories like The Devil’s Grandmother and The Girl Without Hands, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon is a wild, free-form comedy with lots of audience participation and madcap fun!  (But note:  these are the real Grimm Fairy Tales, and they are...grim.  These stories get a little weird and a little scary, and may not be suitable for our younger viewers with vivid imaginations.)

Directed by Mel Ferris, with technical direction by Cody Rysavy, this show will feature a large cast and crew of high school students yet to be determined -- Auditions start Monday, Feb 13. Performances will be Thurs April 27 - Sat Apr 29 in the KMHS Minnesota WiFi Performing Arts Center.
